In much of the Western world, prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men. As life expectancy increases in the African continent, it will become more common there also in the years to come.
Some African nations already have more knowledge and awareness than others about the risks associated with prostate cancer, and better opportunities for high quality care and support is certainly more accessible in some nations than in others.
Our goal is to make it easier for anyone in Africa to get a standard minimum amount of information about the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of prostate cancer by taking advantage of the capabilities of the Internet. We also provide links to other web sites where more information may be found.
For every possible country in Africa, we intend to develop simple, printable information, in appropriate local languages to the greatest extent possible, that can be downloaded, copied, and distributed as necessary by doctors, nurses, other health workers, and community members who want to spread information about the risks associated with prostate cancer.
We will also (gradually) build relationships with prostate cancer activists and specialists across Africa so as to build networks of people who can help and support each other in the management of this disease.
